Designing and Planning

I am spending this winter, among the usual planning for the growing season and updating the website, learning to use an CAD program called Vectorworks, and it is a real challenge. I have not learnt anything in such a formal way for many years, but it is good to challenge the old grey matter again. The move from hand drawing to computer aided design has not been taken lightly but the theory is that my clients will get a better service, more accurate drawings, plant lists and sourcing lists for materials, which I should be able to produce more quickly.  This should, crucially, leave more time for the important part of the designing process, the maximising way the space will be used and the choosing the plants.  Yesterday I started to feel like I was making progress as I learnt how to set out a house and garden boundary. I'll let you know how I get on.
